There is no added vibration, in all rpm ranges, after the installation of the kit. The bike no longer has the torque steer it exhibited before the kit installation. I don't have twisty roads nearby, but long, straight stretches of road, perfect for throttle abuse. I took the bike for a quick ten-mile ride. Now, here's my thoughts after the install. TWR Missing Link Installation instructions, with pics. It's an older post, so there's no TWR group buy at this time.

#TWR THE MISSING LINK INSTALL#
To understand the install process, here's an excellent link regarding the install from the HD Forums. The rest of the stuff is pretty straight forward. This will give you enough room to lower and twist the exhaust system so you can get to that bottom bracket bolt. Secondly, you're gonna have to remove most of the exhaust shields. I fought this and ended up removing all the exhaust to cylinder nuts and the bolts holding the mufflers to the saddlebag support brackets. There's no way you're gonna get adequate access to the lower bracket bolt without really moving the exhaust system out of the way. While I didn't take any pictures, I feel I should pass along a few tips to ease the installation process.įirst of all, you probably will have to drop the entire exhaust system, if you're running the stock set up. It took me two and a half hours to install the kit. Fit and finish are excellent and the instructions are pretty easy to follow. Stability in corners seemed OK, although I'm not riding a road racer and I enter and exit corners accordingly.Īnyway, I got the parts installed today. Now understand, this torque steer is relatively mild, but there nonetheless. The bike did feel a bit unstable after clutch release in the next gear, almost like torque steer. While she rides fine, I noticed softness in the rear swingarm, especially while hammering on the throttle and shifting gears at high rpm. My bike is low mileage 2850 as she sits now.

I got lucky once, would I be lucky a second time? I was able to get the bike under control but vowed never to feel that feeling again. I managed to induce a tank slapper at high speed. I nearly fell, years ago, while abusing the throttle on my old Cowasaki H2 500. I finally decided to pull the trigger after why_me and lil pistolero's fall after Masstch had the wobble occur to him at ES this year. I read as much as I could about the various stabilizers. Why install a stabilizer in the first place? Well, I've read a lot about the dreaded 'bagger wobble' and was concerned about it. The kit cost like $311 shipped to my door. Why the TWR? I was impressed with the quality of the parts and I bit on the manufacturer's explanation of why he designed the parts as he did. I just finished installing a TWR Missing Link stabilizer on my '06 police bike.
